The German county of Rotenburg (Wümme) starts a civic participation platform under the name “Bürgerplattform ROW” using LiquidFeedback. The new platform has been introduced by a change of the county statutes and is legaly founded on municipal code. Rotenburg is the second German county to use LiquidFeedback for civic participation. It follows the example of Friesland county which has introduced civic participation using LiquidFeedback back in November 2012.

Axel Kistner, Co-developer of LiquidFeedback and board member of the Association for Interactive Democracy, welcomes this development: “Two years after Friesland county started using LiquidFeedback for their internationally recognized LiquidFriesland platform, the second county in Germany encourages all citizen 16 and older to actively shape their local community. Any citizen and the administration of the county can start initiatives. All winning initiatives will be submitted to the representatives of the county for their own desicions on the subject. Thus - like in the county of Friesland - an additional communication channel between citizens and politicians will be established that will have positive influence on local politics.”

On December 18, 2013, the delegates of the county of Rotenburg (Wümme) decided to use LiquidFeedback for their civic paticipation platform called “Bürgerplattform ROW”. From Friday, March 06, 2015, the platform “Bürgerplattform ROW” will be open for all citizens of the county. In the subject areas “Economy & Tourism”, “Infrastructure, Construction & Traffic”, “Environment, Agriculture & Waste Management”, “Social Affairs, Family & Health” as well as “Miscellaneous” the citizens of the county can discuss and vote about important topics. The administration of the county will give presentations on three evenings to get the people involved. All citizens from the age of 16 can request access on www.buergerplattformrow.de and will receive a registration code to log into the platform. The accreditation process is easy and fast.
